Reynolds was born 11 March 1838, was reared in Selma, and attended school in Selma, Montgomery, Greenville, and the Georgia Military Institute. In the Civil War he was a member of the first Alabama "Partisan Rangers" also known as the 51st Alabama Mounted regiment, under Colonel John T. Morgan. Reynolds served as an orderly sergeant, first lietutenant, and captain. He was married three times. He first married Mary Jane Boyd on 30 April 1861. That marriage lasted until her death in 1...
